All diagnostic breast imaging at Geelong Breast Clinic is Medicare eligible. For most examinations there will be an out of pocket fee. This fee varies depending on the examination you have requested.
A small co-payment fee is applicable to pensioners and health care card holders.
Our staff will inform your patient of costs prior to her examination. She should bring her Medicare card with her.
If you have any questions with regard to diagnostic billing or have concerns with hardship with payment, please contact our appointments coordinator Stephanie Wyatt on (03) 52220900 for help and more information.
You can also request to speak directly to one of our breast radiologists.
BreastScreen is a government funded national breast cancer screening program for asymptomatic women over the age of 40. If you have any questions about eligibility please visit the website www.breastscreen.org.au.
If your patient has a booking for a BreastScreen mammogram at Geelong Breast Clinic, all imaging, procedures, and follow-ups are funded by the BreastScreen program with no out of pocket expense.
Both you and your patient will receive notification of results from BreastScreen 2-3 weeks after the screen.
