The Geelong Breast Clinic (GBC) is Geelong’s own comprehensive breast imaging centre. Situated at the edge of the medical precinct at 78 Gheringhap Street, the GBC provides all breast diagnostic and screening services in a caring and compassionate environment.
Housed in a beautiful heritage building, GBC was founded in 2009 to provide a dedicated breast service that covers imaging, consultation and intervention all in the one place. The most up-to-date imaging technology is used and includes 3T breast MRI at the nearby St John of God Hospital.
Lake Imaging/GBC is an accredited provider of screening and assessment for BreastScreen Victoria and the National Breast Cancer Screening program. With screening centres in Geelong, Warrnambool and Portland, and also mobile van coverage, we service the Geelong and SouthWest region of the state.
We have a strong commitment to education and teaching. GBC provides advanced training for specialists and technologists in all aspects of breast imaging. We currently offer two fellowship positions each year for radiologists seeking to specialise in breast imaging.
As a centre of excellence, we are always engaged in research. Our collaborative projects include work with the Andrew Love Cancer Centre (ALCC) and BreastScreen Victoria.
Our Clinical Director Dr Linda West heads a team of local radiologists, radiographers, sonographers and breast care nurses who have chosen to specialise in breast imaging.
